Water

EVERYONE NEEDS A WATER STRATEGY

Water is wasted across the world on a large scale within the economically strong countries. It is a finite resource but as the majority in the northern hemisphere receive it out of a tap little heed is paid to it and it is taken as a right.

Water and its use is also linked to energy as it is needed for cooling in the generation of electricity , to drive pumps, industrial washing and cleaning and so on.

Water leakage is happening 24/7. Unless you can accurately measure your usage via metering it is unlikely you will know you have it on your site/premises.

I have listed the following as the starting point in considering the use of water within a business HOWEVER small.

  1. To protect a precious natural resource
  2. To maintain continuity of supply in times or areas of scarcity
  3. To be a socially responsible organisation
  4. To fully understand an entire portfolio’s operational water footprint
  5. To manage water bills efficiently
  6. To maximise negotiation opportunity with the water companies
  7. To optimise water usage and minimise water cost
  8. To save money year on year

Reference can also be made to the Society of British Water & Wastewater Industries (SBWWI) an active , not for profit trade association, representing the interests of UK manufacturers, contractors and others supplying the UK water industry.

UNLESS YOU MEASURE IT YOU CAN NEITHER MONITOR IT, CONTROL IT OR AVOID IT.
