Stop growing your utilities spend, keep on heating…

The costs of running a business are ever increasing and this is no different when it comes to utilities spend. With greater client expectations and staff requirements, the utilities spend can be the difference between making a profit or not. As a manager is one of your decisions “When to switch the heating on, or keep it off a little longer?”

Take the direct approach, heat with infra-red

Starbucks case study @ the NEC

Starbucks @ the NEC in Birmingham is located in the main atrium to one side of the main doors. Due to the high space volume and local heat requirements for the staff this is a technically difficult zone to heat.

After attempts with blown hot air and convector heaters, Starbucks chose infra-red radiant panels wire hung above the staff to deliver targeted heat. Staff feedback has been very positive and the appearance of the panels has been praised as “unobtrusive and hygienic”.

Branded panels and chalkboards and external units may follow.

To hide or not to hide??

Do you want your heating system to blend into the background or do you want to make a statement?

The choice is yours…

What is Infra-red?

Infrared or radiant heating is a technology for heating indoor and outdoor areas. Heating by radiant energy is observed every day, e.g. the warmth of the sun. Radiant heating as a technology is more narrowly defined. It is the method of intentionally using the principles of radiant heat to transfer radiant energy from an emitting heat source to an object such as a person or fabric of a room. Radiant heat is known as a direct heat as it does not use air as a transfer medium. Consequently heat loss via doors & windows is minimised. Additional benefits such as reduced dust circulation occur due to minimised convection currents and movement of air.
