High speed broadband is not yet available to everyone in the UK and BT Openreach have the job of converting the exchanges and organising its role-out nationwide.

In addition Local Line Unbundling (LLU) exchanges are ones that have been converted by BT Openreach to allow other suppliers to have their equipment within the exchanges.

In old non LLU exchanges a monthly payment is made to BT Openreach for the connection within the local exchange. This amount is passed on in full to each customer.
